**PURINA PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM**

Yorkshire Terrier owners have earned for the YTCA a total of  $4,296.46. One half will go to the Donor advised fund at CHF and the other half will go to YTCA. If you feed Purina (dry kibble only no canned food products) please go to www.Purina.com and declare yourself a Yorkie owner with Purina and send in your Purina circles to benefit your breed.

You do not have to be a YTCA member you just have to own a Yorkie and feed a Purina dry kibble dog food to benefit the breed through this program,

Purina Parent Club Partnership

The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America through its participation in the Purina Parent Club Partnership (PPCP) Program is enhancing the health and well-being of the Yorkshire Terrier. Like the 166 other clubs now participating in the program, the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America earns funding for important canine health studies, education efforts and rescue programs when Purina Pro Clubâ members declare the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America to receive matching funds and submit their weight circles.

As of August 31, 2008, the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America has 1814 members declared for the Purina Parent Club Partnership Program. From January 1, 2008 through August 31, 2008, 256 members have submitted weight circles resulting in a total of $6,026.43 accumulated thus far for the 2008 Program.

If all 1814 Pro Club members declared for the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America submitted weight circles at the same rate as the 256 members currently submitting, the earnings through August 31st may have potentially been $42,702.90.

The best way to increase the earnings and close the gap on the potential earnings is by spreading the word:

To Club members who are already Pro Clubâ members: Encourage them to declare for the Purina Parent Club Partnership Program by calling 1-877-776-2582 and encourage them to submit weight circles to the Purina Pro Clubâ .

To Club Members who feed Purina but are NOT members of Pro Clubâ: Make them aware of the Purina Parent Club Partnership program and encourage them to join Pro Clubâ, declare for their breed and submit weight circles to the Purina Pro Clubâ  .

Each new person who declares participation in the PPCP Program and submits weight circles or who joins Pro Clubâ and declares and submits weight circles will only help to increase the earnings for 2008. To assist you in spreading the word, we have developed ad slicks and a program overview sheet that are perfect for use in your club’s publications, website, show catalog, etc. Additionally, we have found that many participants have been made aware of the program through information made available to them on their club’s web site.

Also, please do not forget that we have PPCP promotional display boards that your club may have for their use while supplies last. We hope you will be able to use the display at events, meetings, banquets, etc. to help build awareness of the program and earn funds to benefit your breed. If you are interested in receiving a display board for your club’s use, please let me know.

The end of the year will be upon us before we know it. Please encourage participation in this unique program, and submission of weight circles before the end of the year, to benefit the Yorkshire Terrier. Weight circles submitted after the end of the year will be credited to next year’s program. There are too many important initiatives needing funding to delay participation.

Purina thanks you for this opportunity to partner with you and the Canine Health Foundation in advancing the health and well being of the Yorkshire Terrier.

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS ANNOUNCEMENT 4-3-2008

Dear Members,
The YTCA wishes the membership to know the history of its support of
other organizations for the last several years. All of these
contributions have been reported in past Treasurer reports as
published in The Yorkie Express. Also, please know that YTCA has
also established a Donor Advised Fund under the AKC Canine Health
Foundation and its own Annual Sunshine Remembrance. The following is
a list of YTCA donations since September 2005:

9/01/05: AKC CAR-Katrina Relief $1,000
9/14/05: Take The Lead $1,000
1/05/06: AKC CHF DAF (Robinson memorial) $2,500
2/03/06: AKC CHF DAF (additional funding) $5,000
2/03/06: YTCA Rescue-for their emergency reserve fund $5,000
4/19/06: YTCA Rescue-Purina funds $2,148.23
7/13/06: AKC Dog Museum-Smokey Monument $5,175
5/08/07: AKC CHF (to achieve Founders status) $244
5/08/07: YTCA Rescue-Purina funds $2,789
5/31/07: NAIA-legislative support $1,000
8/30/07: AKC CHF DAF-annual sunshine remembrance $500
3/16/08: NAIA-legislative support $1,000
3/16/08: Rabies Challenge Fund $500

The total donated since September 2005 IS $27,856.

The current status of our DAF is $13,462.23.

We are expecting a check soon from Purina for 2008 of about $3,000.
Purina will also be sending a matching check directly to our DAF.

We are currently committing substantial contributions from our DAF
and our general operating funds to support the research study of Dr.
Center.

Our current cash balance is $87,211. A Parent Club needs to maintain
a strong presence. YTCA needs to be able to continue its operations
(which are growing daily with all the various new committees and
projects) and to be able to put on two specialty shows each year.
YTCA must always be in a position to overcome possible disasters such
as if a show must be cancelled for some unknown, uncontrolled reason
and penalties would be paid to the hotels with no income coming in
from the show.

YTCA thanks the membership for their commitment to the breed and to
their parent club. Without your support YTCA cannot support those
organizations that, in turn, benefit our breed.
